Ohhhhh man. I have consumed a LOT.

Particularly a lot of Alexis Hall books, with no signs of stopping. This post won’t have spoilers, just lots of FEELS. (Should you be interested, I have compiled playlists for my Hall Fandom over on yonder Spotify.)

First, I read Boyfriend Material (listened to the audiobook), anddddd immediately listened again to almost the entire thing.

Hoping my love of the writing style, happy ending angst, and just overall perfection wasn’t a fluke, I proceeded to read Waiting for the Flood, a novella, on kindle. My love only increased. This book feels like it was written for me. A queer, quiet, love story, full of rain, books, pain, and redemption, and eventual hope. Just… just read it.

After devouring that, I read Pansies, again on kindle. Loved it even more. Made vegetable lasagna in tribute to it. (I am currently re-reading all the happy parts, and some of the sad ones.)

And then, with trepidation considering the slightly more steamy subject matter, and at least, to my aesthetic sense, objectionable covers, I began the audiobook How to Bang a Billionaire (Arden St. Ives Book 1) when I went for a run.

I barely stopped listening to the next 2 audiobooks over the course of 2 weeks.

Arden St. Ives and Caspian Hart stole my heart. Put the covers and titles aside and listen. Joel Leslie is perfect. I intend to find more audiobooks narrated by him, once I’ve gotten enough distance from Arden and Caspian. I listened to the entire series (only skipping non-Caspian parts) twice in a row. Finally, yesterday, I finished the audiobooks for the second time and knew I needed to let them go. I can basically quote the ending word for perfect word at this point.

Soooooo I read The Lathe of Heaven, which is quoted by Caspian in Book 2. And man. It’s my first Ursula K. LeGuin novel, and it will not be my last. I read it too quickly (all in one day, only a few short breaks), I think. I need to read the chapters more slowly, give myself a day between chapters next read…. There was just so much Caspian in the pages. Half my marginalia is just “Oh, Caspian, poor poor baby.”

What else have I consumed. OH RIGHT ALL OF UMBRELLA ACADEMY. (Show, not comics, yet). Can I just…. KLAUS. Ok?! KLAUS. My enthusiasm is boundless. I love Klaus so much. And Diego, and Five, and basically everyone except Luther, because UGH, Luther. He’s getting better, but…. UGH.

What else….? BTS as usual. “Dynamite,” anyone? It’s wonderful and exactly the happy song we all need right now.

OH ALSO Folklore. Man. My first listen did not do it justice; I listened on my car ride somewhere, and it’s just not car ride music for me. It’s dark, quiet, shower music. Candlelight, evenings, rainfall. It’s wonderful. “[M]irrorball” and “this is me trying” are my favorites, but each song has grown on me in its own way. I love the storytelling aspect. I even preordered one of the limited edition vinyl editions, the in the woods version bc I love trees.

Have I talked about Haikyuu!! on here yet? Well, I won’t go into it too much, except Oh, I love it. Suga is everything, and Daisuga is perfection. I have spent sooooo much time on Pinterest making the board Haikus for Haikyuu (I’m so clever, I know), and half of it is just Daisuga sweetness. And Tsukki and Yamaguchi because, obviously.

Lore Olympus is back, and while I’m not current, I will be shortly. Same with Midnight Poppyland (Tora. Just…. Tora).

Ok. That’s likely enough for now.

See you next time!
