The covid world continues to spin, and so I continue to seek refuge in art. (I FIGURED OUT GIFS!!!!!)

I’ve devoured yet more audiobooks, this time the majority of which have been by KJ Charles. I listened to the entire Sins of the City series, after the Society of Gentlemen series. Of the two, I think the former is my favorite… but it’s close. I’ve read around that The Magpie series is her best, so I’ll be starting that soon. My fav story of the bunch is… Richard and Cyprian?! Wait, no. Pen and Marcus. Pen is wonderful.

Right now, I’m getting into the fall spirit, and the vampire short story collection Vampires Never Get Old came at the perfect time! It’s written by a diverse bunch of authors who wanted to reexamine the vampire canon, to expand it, to bring in people who aren’t DWGs (Dead White Guys). It was an autobuy for me bc of vampires (duh) AND because VES wrote a gay vampire story in it. UM. That’s JUST about the most Sandy thing possible. In her mini bio for the book, V. E. Schwab revealed her favorite vampire to be Lestat. I had only ever seen the movie Interview with the Vampire, and personally, ick to Tom Cruise’s portrayal (though now that I’m reading the book, it’s kinda spot on… I just wish they’d made Brad Pitt Lestat instead, ok?!). Now that I’m reading the book (a mix of listening to the audiobook and reading the physical copy), I totally see why Lestat is VES’s fav. He’s got all the personality traits of a VES protagonist: arrogant, bloodthirsty (literally in this case), greedy, and willing to do whatever it takes to get it, with an appreciation for fine garments.

In terms of music, I’ve jumped deeper into Kpop, and am now whatever a Super M super fan is called. Taemin is my bias, but Ten is great, too. And Mark, and Kai… and Baekyun and Lucas, too. They’re just all great, ok!?

I recommend starting with “Tiger Inside” because… DAMN. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUsUzbmSLow

I haven’t been watching much, since I’ve been listening to audiobooks whenever possible. But I have managed to watch some of Netflix’s The Home Edit, which is filling the Queer Eye void slightly, and just two days ago, I started the Kdrama The King: Eternal Monarch, and it’s so clearly made by the people who made Goblin, aka Guardian: The Great and Lonely God that I love it! It’s not even close to Goblin level of love, but… I’ll enjoy it for what it is.

And with my hubby, I’ve been watching a lot of Keanu Reeves, sort of unintentionally. Due to the release of Bill and Ted Face the Music, we watched the first two movies, but have yet to watch the new one. And then we watched John Wick & John Wick 2, but haven’t yet watched Parabellum. So maybe now we’ll watch just the first Matrix, who knows. And probably just the first Speed.

That’s all for now. What’re you consuming in order to stave off the existential dread that only 2020 can bring?
