We’re nearly through, y’all!!

Currently Watching!:

  • The Mandalorian, Season 2: I know, I’m a little behind the times, but I like to wait till I have tons of a show to binge, thank you.

  • Haikyuu & My Hero Academia: My husband and I are finally (and unfortunately) current with both of these wonderful animes. Now, we wait.

  • Virgin River Season 2: Yeah, it’s kind of awful. But the scenery! And the lack of need to really focus on anything!

Currently reading:

  • The Gift: Creativity and the Artist in the Modern World by Lewis Hyde: I bought this on a whim a few years ago when one could still go browsing in bookstores and picked it up because it just felt like time, I guess? So far, it’s very academic, and makes me simultaneously glad I am no longer in, and slightly wistful for, academe. It was written in 1979, so it’s a bit dated overall as well, but it’s already changing how I think about consuming things. I love buying stuff—who doesn’t?—but I’ve been trying to be more mindful of what I’ll actually need. I also had/have the habit of not using the stuff I buy because whatever occasion is currently occurring isn’t special enough. I’m working to stop sequestering my joy to certain parts of my life. The Gift is helping with that. It’s long and a bit difficult to read since I’m out of practice reading criticism, but I’m determined to keep at it.

  • Wintering by Katerine May: A beautiful look at depression/regrowth, broken down into the months of a winter. I’ve read through December and I’m thinking about waiting to read each month as it happens. Highly recommend. On Sunday night, I sat in front of my tree, with a candle and blanket and a fake fireplace on the TV and read this book for about 3 hours straight. It was the most relaxing time I’d had in quite a while.

  • Stilllllll on the Joel Leslie Audiobook train. Can’t stop, won’t stop. He’s spectacular. Every voice he creates is unique, though Ardy and Caspian will always be my favorites. Current series: Seducing the Sedgwicks by Cat Sebastian, who is quickly becoming a fav akin to KJ Charles.

    Currently writing:

  • Taking a writing break to let the well refill after I pumped out first a NaNoWriMo winning draft, and then an entire revision in 6 weeks. I got a full MS request (for my paranormal romance Giving Up The Ghost) for the first time this PitMad and went a litttttttle insane getting it ready to submit. I’m starting to feel ready to write again and don’t want to lose the spirit. Anyone know how to make me stop compulsively checking my inbox every 10 minutes?

    currently listening:

  • Evermore, to no one’s surprise.

  • “You Broke Me First” by Tate McRae (a very fitting song for an assassin book I’ve been thinking about for a long while)

  • My Giving Up the Ghost playlist—full of pop, sad instrumentals, and Taemin.

That’s all for now. I’m a little lacklustre, but working on getting back to normal. Looking forward to utilizing my new Appointed planner for 2021! Stay safe and warm, everyone!
